PROJECT 1: ANALYZING PASSIVE BUILDING DESIGN STRATEGIES
Basic building design does not require mechanical heating or cooling. Buildings that are passively designed take advantages of natural climate to maintain thermal comfort. In this project, we are to identify and define the principles of heat transfer in relation to building and people, understand what is thermal comfort and discuss factors relating to thermal comfort, then analyze the effect of thermal comfort factors in a person and in a space. Upon all of that, we are to think of ways to improve thermal comfort of the given site/building. In this case, the given site/building was in relation to our Studio III, which is at the Charcoal Factory of Kuala Sepetang. The challenge is to reduce the thermal comfort, in relation to precedent studies and site analysis.
